| Hospice Savannah Art Gallery |
HospiceSavannah writes, "March 1- Hospice Savannah will showcase pastels and oils by acclaimed Savannah painter, Robert Isley, March 2 – April 30 at the Hospice Savannah Art Gallery, located at Hospice House, 1352 Eisenhower Drive.
Robert Isley’s interpretative plein aire paintings capture everyday snapshots of life and scenery in Savannah. He was named one of Five artists to collect in 2002 by Coastal Antiques and Art, and earned the prestigious “Best of Show” in the 2001 Telfair Art Fair. Robert holds a BFA in painting from Atlanta College of Art; his “journals” of everyday life in the Lowcountry have become increasingly popular among Savannah art collectors who seek out his work at Friedman’s Fine Art and The Dolphin and Mermaid. admin writes, "Q: Our apartment is on three levels, with the front door opening into a little stair hall that brings you up to the living and dining rooms and kitchen (the bedrooms are up more stairs on the top floor). Here’s the problem: the stairs take up almost the entire hallway. There’s no space for anything that makes it look inviting. What can you suggest?"

| Rincon |
|
admin writes, " Just before the turn of the century, the city of Rincon sprang up around the miles and miles of railroad tracks making their way along the eastern seaboard through the sleepy countryside of rural Georgia. It had taken more than 150 years for residents to move beyond the original 1751 Salzburger New Ebenezer settlement along the Savannah River, but once the railroad came to town, a new city and a new era had arrived."

| POOLER…MOVIN’ ON |
|
admin writes, "In 1838, the first railroad station
west of
Savannah
was named for Robert William Pooler. William
W. Gordon, president of Central of Georgia Railroad, named the
station for Pooler as a reward for the difficult and tedious work he had
completed on a feasibility study to determine the route that railroad would take
through various Georgia towns and counties."
